| $@%&! level: Low “Bedroom” level: None Violence level: Medium (lots of monster battles) Back Cover: “The two princesses of Bamarre couldn't be more different. Princess Addie is fearful and shy. Her deepest wish is for safety. Princess Meryl is bold and brave. Her deepest wish is to save the kingdom of Bamarre. They are sisters and they mean the world to each other. Then disaster strikes, and Addie—terrified and unprepared—sets out on a perilous quest. In her path are the monsters of Bamarre: ogres, specters, gryphons, and dragons. Addie must battle them, but time is running out, and the sisters' lives—and Bamarre's fate—hang in the balance.” |
And it isn't just a personal battle, either. It seems that Bamarre is overly populated with timid people, so it's the entire country that has to find their courage somehow. And not everyone does, of course, but enough do to make it a fair climax. The resolution with Drualt (the last legendary hero of Bamarre) is pretty darn cool also. It all wraps up very neatly.
The mystery of the cure perhaps could have been played up a bit more. The solution was a little too easy to find. But in the end, the mystery is more about the origins of the Grey Death and the fate of Drualt than it is about the cure. It's more of an adventure than a mystery, and it also has a decent love story. It definitely lives up to my expectations.
