| $@%&! level: Low “Bedroom” level: Low Violence level: Medium-High (especially the part with the succubus) Back Cover: “Ehlana, Queen of Elenia, has been poisoned. A deep enchantment sustains her life, but it will end soon. Then Sparhawk, Pandian Knight and the Queen's Champion, learns where to get to cure for the poison. He and his companions set forth on a dangerous quest to find the antidote before the queen should perish and the peace ends....” |
However, I think I actually found the second book a more interesting read altogether. For one thing, getting the magical object they need to cure Ehlana turns out to be not only fraught with peril (as you'd expect) but requiring a battle with an insane troll. Gives it a really good climax. Also, one of the aforementioned perils is directly caused by a small something that happened way back in the first book, and turns out to have some horrific consequences. I don't know why, but I'm really happy about that.
I think they're going to have to cram a lot of story into the final installment, though, because there are a whole lot of problems that have been set up. I just hope they don't end up using the magical cure for Ehlana to solve absolutely everything. That'd be a big disappointment.
